Job Overview:

A San Francisco-based law firm is seeking a highly skilled Associate Attorney to join its Intellectual Property practice, with a concentration in Hatch-Waxman litigation and pharmaceutical patent matters. This role offers the opportunity to represent clients in complex life sciences disputes, involving regulatory and technical issues under the Hatch-Waxman Act. Ideal candidates will bring a combination of litigation experience, scientific insight, and a passion for defending innovation.

Duties:

  • Manage all stages of Hatch-Waxman litigation, including pre-filing analysis, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation

  • Draft and revise legal documents, including briefs, discovery responses, expert reports, and dispositive motions

  • Participate in strategy development for ANDA cases and related regulatory disputes

  • Conduct legal research and provide analysis on patent law and FDA-related matters

  • Collaborate closely with technical experts and scientific teams

  • Prepare for and attend court hearings, depositions, and client meetings

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Hatch-Waxman or pharmaceutical patent litigation

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Hatch-Waxman Act and related regulatory frameworks

  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects in a fast-paced environment

  • Technical degrees in chemistry, biology, or related fields

  • Admission to a U.S. State Bar and in good standing

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • State Bar admission required

  • USPTO admission is a plus

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing abilities

  • Clear and persuasive communication skills, both verbal and written

  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills

  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in diverse teams
