Attorney - Insurance Coverage/Bad Faith Defense

Job Overview

A law firm seeks an attorney with at least five years of experience in insurance coverage and bad faith litigation defense for its Kansas City, MO office. The ideal candidate will be licensed in Missouri and Kansas, capable of working independently on complex cases, and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

Duties

• Manage files through the litigation process independently and as part of a case team.
• Conduct fact investigations.
• Handle document productions and other discovery tasks.
• Prepare witnesses for depositions.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Prepare pleadings, briefs, and motions.
• Review and analyze insurance policies, contracts, and other legal documents.
• Prepare detailed insurance coverage opinions.
• Prepare for and attend court hearings.
• Prepare for and attend trials.

Requirements

• Licensed to practice in Missouri and Kansas.
• Minimum of five years of experience in insurance coverage and bad faith litigation defense.
• Ability to work independently on complex cases.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• Bar admission in Missouri and Kansas.

Skills

• Proficiency in insurance policy review and legal analysis.
• Strong legal writing skills, including drafting insurance coverage opinions.
