Associate Attorney, Litigation

Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney for its litigation practice in Kansas City. This role is ideal for candidates with two to three years of civil litigation experience who wish to develop their skills in insurance coverage analysis and litigation. The position involves working closely with partners, associates, and clients in a busy national litigation practice.

Duties

• Handle all aspects of complex civil litigation matters, including client communications, motions, and discovery responses.
• Participate in court appearances, mediations, and negotiating settlements.
• Take and defend depositions, and draft dispositive motions.
• Manage and respond to rapid deadlines and immediate client needs.
• Work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment.
• Interact directly with and achieve the goals of firm clients.

Requirements

• Admitted to practice in Missouri or Kansas, or willing to be admitted in both states within the first year.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in civil litigation matters; experience in insurance or commercial litigation preferred.
• Strong academic credentials, judicial clerkship, or law review experience preferred.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active bar license(s) in good standing.
