Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Tax-Exempt Organizations / Nonprofit Associate Attorney with 3-6 years of experience to join their Tax Practice Group in Menlo Park, CA. The successful candidate will support the firm's nationally recognized nonprofit and philanthropic client work.

Duties

  • Advise nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations on obtaining and maintaining tax-exempt status.
  • Handle private inurement benefit, excess benefit transactions, and private foundation rules.
  • Manage Form 990 reporting and structure relationships between tax-exempt and for-profit organizations.
  • Provide counsel on nonprofit governance matters, including formation and executive compensation.
  • Engage in transactions and restructurings involving nonprofits.
  • Advise on international activity and grantmaking.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of relevant tax-exempt organizations/nonprofit law experience.
  • Admitted to and a member in good standing of the bar in the jurisdiction of the office.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction.
