Job Overview:
A nationally recognized law firm is seeking an experienced Of Counsel to join its Business and Transactions group, focusing on high-value corporate aviation transactions. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a global clientele including commercial airlines, corporations, high-net-worth individuals, and financial institutions. The position emphasizes independent management of aircraft-related deals, from acquisition through regulatory compliance and maintenance oversight. 

Location:

  • Mount Laurel, NJ

Duties:

  • Advise clients on selection, financing, acquisition, and sale of corporate and commercial aircraft

  • Provide counsel on FAA compliance and regulatory matters at federal, state, and local levels

  • Structure complex transactions involving ownership, leasing, registration, and cross-border arrangements

  • Draft and negotiate aircraft purchase agreements, lease contracts, and related documentation

  • Address aircraft completion, maintenance, and customization legal issues

  • Manage transactions independently and provide strategic advisory to clients

  • Collaborate with teams on tax-efficient ownership structures and financing models

  • Support business development efforts, particularly in the aviation and transportation sectors

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in corporate aviation transactions

  • Demonstrated ability to advise clients autonomously on complex transactional matters

  • Familiarity with a wide range of aircraft, including high-end general aviation and large commercial aircraft

  • Previous experience advising high-net-worth individuals and institutional clients

  • Capability to build and maintain strong client relationships

  • A portable book of business is strongly preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Active bar license in the jurisdiction corresponding to the desired office location

Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of aviation finance and regulatory frameworks

  • Strong negotiation and drafting capabilities

  • Strategic thinking and practical problem-solving ability

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously

  • Proven client relationship management and development skills
