Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Hartford to represent mortgage servicer and investor clients in residential and commercial foreclosure, title, and general real estate litigation. This role involves appearances in state and federal court, developing case strategies, drafting documents, conducting discovery, and engaging in settlement negotiations. While primarily in-office, hybrid or remote opportunities may be available for exceptionally qualified candidates.

Duties

  • Manage and handle a caseload of contested foreclosures and defensive litigation.
  • Prosecute commercial foreclosures from initiation to completion.
  • Analyze loan files, title reports, and client documents.
  • Draft motions, pleadings, and settlement agreements.
  • Appear in court for various legal proceedings.
  • Communicate with clients to ensure quality representation.
  • Collaborate with support staff for document preparation and execution.
  • Research and analyze complex client cases.
  • Create matter budgets and track billable time.

Requirements

  • J.D. degree and bar license in good standing in Connecticut.
  • Bar license in Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, and/or New York is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant litigation experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Connecticut Mortgage Foreclosure Law is strongly preferred.

Education

  • J.D. degree required.

Certifications

  • Bar license in Connecticut required.
