Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Oil and Gas Title Attorney in Houston, TX. This full-time role focuses on South Texas and the Permian Basin, requiring expertise in oil and gas law to provide timely and accurate solutions to clients. Duties

  • Conduct title examinations to determine ownership of oil and gas properties.
  • Analyze documents such as deeds, leases, and contracts to establish ownership rights.
  • Draft title opinions highlighting defects, liens, or issues impacting property ownership.
  • Conduct due diligence reviews for oil and gas transactions.
  • Provide guidance on legal risks and strategies for mitigating issues.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate agreements and contracts.
  • Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with litigation attorneys when necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to execute complex legal transactions.
  • Meet quarterly billable requirement of 450 hours.
  • Actively pursue continuous learning opportunities.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license.
  • At least one year of experience drafting title opinions for Texas lands.
  • Familiarity with preparing large, unit-wide division order ownerships.
  • Exceptional commitment to ethical practice and client confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Passion for professional development and skill enhancement.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
