Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced mid-to-senior level attorney to join their Professional Consulting Practice Group in San Francisco, CA. The role involves providing risk management and claims monitoring services, along with strategic advice to architects, engineers, and their professional liability insurers across the United States and Canada.

Duties

  • Provide specialized risk management and claims avoidance mitigation advice.
  • Conduct contract reviews and seminars.
  • Investigate, evaluate, and monitor defense of complex professional liability claims.
  • Act as a liaison to underwriters and senior claim adjusters.
  • Offer strategic input and evaluate defense strategies.
  • Perform independent exposure evaluations.
  • Develop and manage resolution strategies.
  • Interface with clients, insurers, and other project participants.
  • Negotiate resolution of claims.
  • Evaluate, manage, and provide strategic direction on significant complex construction disputes and litigation matters.
  • Engage in risk management of high-value claims on large, complex projects.
  • Engage and manage local counsel substantively.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and industry experts to resolve complex disputes.

Requirements

  • Experience in complex civil litigation, preferably in construction, claims management, or the design/construction industry.
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in any of the 50 United States.
  • Interest in construction projects.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Superior research and writing skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and analyze complex matters.
