Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Employment Law Of Counsel to join their Kansas City, MO office. The role involves managing employment discrimination claims from initial response to trial or appeal, requiring substantial experience with the EEOC and fair employment practices agencies.

Duties

• Handle employment-related administrative investigations and litigation.
• Respond to EEOC charges and similar agency requests.
• Prepare and respond to pleadings and conduct e-discovery.
• Develop defense and litigation strategies.
• Engage in motion practice and court appearances.
• Lead trials, arbitrations, and appeals.
• Participate in mediation and settlement strategy development.
• Coordinate and prioritize multiple matters effectively.
• Supervise junior attorneys and staff.
• Utilize legal-focused AI tools for efficiency.

Requirements

• Active Missouri law license; additional licenses preferred.
• Seven years of experience in adversary employment law matters.
• Experience with litigation management and billing guidelines.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• Active Missouri law license.

Skills

• Excellent writing, oral advocacy, and analytical skills.
• In-depth understanding of employment laws such as Title VII, ADEA, ADA, and FMLA.
• Strong organizational and prioritization abilities.
• Ability to work independently and under supervision.
