Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Information Governance Attorney in New York, NY. This role involves advising on information governance issues to ensure compliance with legal, ethical, security, and privacy requirements across various jurisdictions. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement.

Duties

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of internal legal holds and document preservation.
  • Collaborate with the Office of General Counsel on document management for firm-related matters.
  • Review confidentiality and security obligations in client agreements.
  • Provide pre-litigation data management support and coordinate discovery responses.
  • Advise on client file release requests and information destruction.
  • Develop policies and best practices for information governance, including AI issues.
  • Protect and maintain sensitive and confidential information.

Requirements

  • Exhibit excellent leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Possess knowledge of electronically stored information management and review tools.
  • Understand privacy and artificial intelligence laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrate creative thinking and strategic support abilities.

Education

  • University degree in law, with technology-related coursework preferred.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Master of Laws (LL.M.) from an ABA-accredited law school preferred.

Certifications

  • Qualification or licensure to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Admission to at least one United States state bar.

Skills

  • Leadership, organizing, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of ESI management and review tools like Nuix and Relativity.
  • Understanding of privacy and AI laws.
