Job Overview

A law firm seeks a motivated Associate Attorney with over two years of experience in asbestos defense or toxic tort litigation to join their New York City office. This role offers the chance to work on complex cases, gain courtroom experience, and grow within a dynamic, trial-focused environment.

Duties

  • Manage a diverse caseload involving asbestos and toxic tort defense.
  • Handle product liability and premises exposure claims.
  • Draft pleadings, discovery, and dispositive motions.
  • Conduct and defend depositions of fact and expert witnesses.
  • Manage discovery and develop case strategy.
  • Attend court conferences, hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
  • Communicate directly with clients, insurers, and opposing counsel.
  • Assist with trial preparation and participate in trials as needed.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law in New York (required).
  • Over two years of experience in asbestos defense, toxic tort, or related litigation.
  • Licenses in Connecticut, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania are highly desirable.
  • Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Proven ability to handle motion practice, depositions, and client communications independently.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a proactive, client-focused approach.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Bar admission in New York.
