Job Overview
A law firm seeks a Lateral Associate to join its tax practice in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have a class-year appropriate understanding of tax law and relevant transactional tax experience.

Duties

  • Conduct research and draft legal documents related to tax law.
  • Engage in strategic and private equity M&A transactions.
  • Participate in capital markets activities, including spin-offs and IPOs.
  • Advise on energy taxation, including oil and gas and energy transition.
  • Assist in investment fund formation and real estate matters, including REITs.
  • Interact directly with clients and participate in public speaking engagements.

Requirements

  • Experience in transactional tax law.
  • Outstanding oral communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to think creatively about complex problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for client interaction.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

  • Bar admission in the state of Texas.
