A law firm seeks a Senior Immigration Litigation Attorney to join their team in Silver Spring, MD. This full-time position requires a hybrid work model with three days in the office per week. The role involves federal district court litigation of immigration cases, including habeas corpus petitions, lawsuits for injunctive relief, and appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals and U.S. Courts of Appeals.

Duties

  • Manage a personal caseload while meeting case progression benchmarks.
  • Conduct client consultations for prospective cases.
  • Collaborate with paralegals and attorneys for seamless case handling.
  • Participate in firm committees to contribute to operations and success.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis.
  • Prepare and draft precise legal documents and correspondence.
  • Provide guidance and support to clients throughout the immigration process.
  • Lead and manage multiple case files with strong organizational skills.
  • Stay updated on evolving immigration laws and policies.

Requirements

  • Active bar membership.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of immigration experience and 2+ years of federal litigation experience, or vice versa.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong teamwork and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in conducting thorough legal research.
  • Willingness to travel within the U.S. for court hearings or conferences.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in good standing.

Skills

  • Fluency in Spanish and/or other languages preferred.
  • Experience in specific immigration law specialties is advantageous.
