Job Overview:
An established law firm is seeking a seasoned Senior Business Transactional Attorney to lead and expand its corporate and M&A practice in Texas. This opportunity is ideal for a highly regarded attorney with 15+ years of experience, a well-established referral network, and a proven ability to generate significant business independently. The role is designed for a legal leader capable of building a transactional team and cultivating a robust book of business while providing strategic counsel on complex corporate matters.

Location:

  • Houston, Texas

Duties:

  • Advise clients on mergers, acquisitions, corporate restructurings, and general business transactions

  • Manage and lead transactional matters from due diligence through closing

  • Provide strategic legal counsel to closely held businesses, institutional clients, and investors

  • Build and maintain strong referral relationships, particularly with attorneys at large law firms

  • Develop and grow a corporate legal practice with support for lateral hiring and team building

  • Oversee junior attorneys and transactional staff as the practice expands

  • Maintain and grow a self-sustaining book of business

Requirements:

  • At least 15 years of legal experience in corporate and M&A law

  • Strong standing and reputation within the business transactional legal community

  • Demonstrated ability to originate and maintain client business, generating approximately $1M+ annually

  • Prior experience working with or referring to large law firms

  • Proven track record of independently managing high-level corporate transactions

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in Texas (required)

Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of corporate, M&A, and transactional legal principles

  • Strong business development and client relationship skills

  • Leadership and mentoring abilities for growing a transactional team

  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills

  • Ability to manage multiple transactions with attention to strategic detail
