Litigation Associate

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Litigation Associate for its Chicago, IL office. This role offers the opportunity to engage in high-exposure litigation matters, working with experienced litigators in a collaborative setting. The position provides direct client interaction and mentorship to support career growth.

Duties

• Manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution.
• Draft and respond to written discovery.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Prepare, draft, and argue motions.
• Participate in court appearances, mediations, and arbitrations.
• Develop case strategy and manage day-to-day litigation responsibilities.
• Communicate directly with clients, providing strategic counsel.
• Collaborate with attorneys across multiple offices on complex matters.
• Assist with trial preparation and other high-stakes litigation activities.

Requirements

• Admission to practice law in Illinois required.
• Minimum of 3 years of defense litigation experience.
• Strong legal writing, research, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational, case management, and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated and proactive.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in Illinois.

Skills

• Insurance defense litigation experience preferred.
• Experience with depositions, motion practice, mediations, and court appearances.
• Ability to manage matters independently.
