Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Fairfax, VA, to join its expanding practice. The role involves engaging in family law matters such as divorce, adoptions, prenuptial agreements, and custody filings. The successful candidate will work closely with senior attorneys and participate in a comprehensive development program.

Duties

  • Bill at least 30 hours per week.
  • Engage in client intake and acquisition for at least 5 hours weekly.
  • Maintain a client collection rate above 75% weekly.
  • Collaborate with the financial team for weekly billing forecasts.
  • Represent clients in court and legal proceedings.
  • Mentor junior associates and legal support staff.
  • Manage a schedule of hearings and court appearances.
  • Advise staff on legal matters and law interpretation.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law in Virginia; additional state bars are a plus.
  • Experience in domestic and civil litigation preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Superior work ethic and career ambition.
  • Organized with effective time management skills.
  • Knowledgeable in family law, willing to expand expertise.
  • Proficient in legal writing and document preparation.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

  • Bar admission in Virginia.
