Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Information Governance Attorney in Washington, D.C. This role involves advising on information governance issues to ensure compliance with legal, ethical, security, and privacy requirements across various jurisdictions. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement.

Duties

  • Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of internal legal holds and document preservation.
  • Collaborate with the Office of General Counsel on document management for firm-related matters.
  • Review confidentiality and security obligations in client agreements.
  • Provide pre-litigation data management support and coordinate discovery responses.
  • Advise on client file release requests and information destruction.
  • Develop policies and best practices for information governance, including security and AI issues.
  • Protect and maintain sensitive, confidential, and proprietary information.

Requirements

  • Exhibit excellent leadership skills, including organizing, planning, and decision-making.
  • Possess knowledge of electronically stored information management and review tools.
  • Understand privacy and artificial intelligence laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrate creative thinking and strategic support abilities.

Education

  • University degree in law, with additional coursework in a technology-related field preferred.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school preferred.

Certifications

  • Qualification or licensure to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Admission to at least one United States state bar.

Skills

  • Leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of ESI management tools like Nuix and Relativity.
  • Understanding of privacy and AI regulations.
