Civil Litigation Attorney (Hybrid)

Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced civil litigation attorney to join its New Jersey team in Trenton. The firm specializes in personal injury and insurance defense, representing clients in cases involving automotive and trucking negligence, medical malpractice, toxic torts, and general liability.

Duties

• Draft pleadings, correspondence, memoranda, and other legal documents.
• Record and disseminate client information.
• Summarize medical records and highlight key information.
• Write reports to clients summarizing case status and analysis.
• Identify, research, and analyze legal issues and opinions.
• Take and defend depositions, handle arbitrations, and argue motions.
• Attend in-person and virtual court appearances.
• Provide legal representation in complex and high exposure litigation.
• Explain litigation processes to clients.
• Manage cases towards cost-effective and fair resolutions.
• Handle multiple assignments and deadlines.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience in insurance defense.
• Experience with depositions, mediations, and arbitrations.
• Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
• Member in good standing with the New Jersey bar; Pennsylvania and/or New York bar membership is a plus.
• Good judgment and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage a large caseload and day-to-day tasks.
• Strong desire to learn and grow professionally.
• Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Experience billing for time.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in New Jersey.
