Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Litigation Associate in New York, NY to manage civil and commercial litigation matters from intake through resolution. The role involves working closely with partners, clients, and colleagues while independently advancing cases.

Duties

  • Manage a diverse litigation caseload involving civil and commercial disputes.
  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis using legal research tools.
  • Draft and argue various motions in court.
  • Manage discovery processes, including document review and e-discovery.
  • Prepare for and conduct depositions.
  • Appear in New York State and Federal courts for various proceedings.
  • Assist with mediations, arbitrations, and trial preparation.
  • Communicate directly with clients and other legal professionals.
  • Maintain organized case files and litigation calendars.

Requirements

  • J.D. or equivalent law degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active New York Bar admission and good standing.
  • Admission to the Southern District of New York and/or Eastern District of New York.
  • 2-4 years of relevant litigation experience.
  • Strong legal writing, research, and advocacy skills.
  • Knowledge of New York State and federal court procedures.
  • Experience with pleadings, discovery, and court appearances.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal research platforms.

Education

  • J.D. or equivalent law degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active New York Bar admission.
