Job Overview

A law firm seeks a National Security and Global Trade Associate to join its practice in Seattle, WA. The ideal candidate will have experience advising on U.S. economic sanctions, export controls, CFIUS, and national security issues in corporate and financial transactions. This role involves collaboration with various teams on complex, cross-border matters for multinational clients.

Duties

  • Advise clients on U.S. economic sanctions, including compliance and enforcement issues.
  • Counsel on export controls under EAR and ITAR.
  • Support CFIUS and national security reviews, including transaction structuring and filings.
  • Conduct diligence on sanctions, export control, and national security in strategic transactions.
  • Draft and review compliance policies and contractual provisions.
  • Assist with internal investigations and government inquiries.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on multidisciplinary matters.

Requirements

  • 3-4 years of relevant experience in international trade, sanctions, export controls, or national security.
  • Experience with transactions involving trade or national security considerations.
  • Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.
  • Admission to practice in the relevant jurisdiction.

Education

  • JD from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice in the jurisdiction of application.

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and good professional judgment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
