Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate for Private Wealth Services in Chicago, IL. The role involves representing first-generation entrepreneurs, hedge funds, private equity fund principals, tech founders, and high-net-worth families. The Associate will counsel clients on financial affairs, including estate and income tax planning, corporate restructuring, and philanthropic objectives.

Duties

  • Advise clients on estate and income tax planning, corporate restructuring, and governance.
  • Manage estate and trust administration, including trust modification and migration strategies.
  • Assist clients in achieving philanthropic goals through grants and private foundations.
  • Design documents and structures to maximize tax efficiency and minimize disputes.

Requirements

  • JD or LLM or foreign equivalent degree.
  • 3 years of experience in estate planning, trust administration, and tax planning.
  • Experience drafting comprehensive estate planning documents.
  • Proficiency in developing estate tax planning strategies and trust modification.
  • Admitted to the Illinois bar or eligible for admission within 2 years.

Education

  • JD or LLM or foreign equivalent degree.

Certifications

  • Admitted to the Illinois bar or another U.S. state bar.

Skills

  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage complex legal issues and multi-jurisdictional tax law.
