Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Patent Associate with 3-6 years of experience for its San Diego office. The ideal candidate will contribute to the firm's intellectual property team, leveraging their expertise to support clients in expanding and protecting their IP portfolios.

Duties

• Collaborate with clients to develop and protect intellectual property portfolios.
• Interface with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
• Negotiate settlements and agreements related to intellectual property.
• Conduct legal research and draft legal documents.

Requirements

• 3-6 years of experience in patent law.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software, or Computer Science.
• Admission to the USPTO or eligibility to take the Patent Bar.
• Strong writing, analytical, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) required.

Certifications

• Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Skills

• Experience with consumer electronics, software, web-based services, full-stack development, generative AI, machine learning, data structures, data storage, and databases preferred.
