Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Tampa, FL, to join their insurance defense team. This full-time, in-office role requires a motivated individual with experience in bodily injury defense. The position offers an opportunity to work on property damage cases alongside bodily injury matters.

Duties

  • Manage a caseload focused on bodily injury defense, including auto negligence and general liability.
  • Handle all litigation aspects: discovery, depositions, hearings, motions, mediations, and trial preparation.
  • Support the property damage team, including first-party property or FIGA-related cases.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and correspondence.
  • Represent clients at hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials.
  • Communicate with clients, insurance carriers, and opposing counsel.
  • Maintain organized case files and ensure compliance with deadlines and billing requirements.

Requirements

  • 1-5 years of litigation experience, preferably in bodily injury defense.
  • Experience or familiarity with property damage and/or FIGA claims is a plus.
  • Active license to practice law in Florida and in good standing with the Florida Bar.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with law firm billing practices and time entry protocols.
  • Ability to work independently, manage a high-volume caseload, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Florida.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
