Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Innovation Lawyer - Finance in Chicago, IL. This role is embedded within the Technology Department and aligned with the Corporate & Finance Transactions Department. The position focuses on developing and advancing AI strategies for transactional lawyers, particularly in finance. The successful candidate will engage in firm-wide projects, collaborating with lawyers and business professionals to implement AI transformation across the firm's global network.

Duties

  • Identify high-value AI use cases with practice group leaders and partners.
  • Support AI platform pilots with the LEAP Taskforce.
  • Standardize and scale AI solutions across Finance Teams.
  • Provide AI support and assistance to lawyers.
  • Facilitate AI-enabled workflows for Finance Teams.
  • Integrate AI into associate training programs.
  • Deliver technology presentations and training on AI use.
  • Collaborate with Knowledge Solutions and Innovation teams.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience as a finance lawyer in a large US or international law firm.
  • Experience in a legal technology role or a strong interest in AI.
  • Understanding of legal finance workflows and a process-driven mindset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Service-oriented with a proactive approach to change.
  • Flexibility to support firm priorities and strategies.
  • Understanding of product development, UI/UX, and process mapping is desirable.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Bar admission in at least one US jurisdiction.

  • Proficiency in AI and legal technology tools.
