Job Overview

A law firm seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join its growing immigration practice in Irving, TX. This role is suitable for both entry-level and experienced attorneys, offering structured training, mentorship, and progressive responsibility. The Associate Attorney will provide legal representation in both affirmative and defensive immigration matters, managing a dedicated caseload and developing litigation and advocacy skills under the supervision of senior attorneys.

Duties

  • Provide legal representation and advocacy for clients before USCIS and EOIR.
  • Manage a caseload of immigration matters, from routine to complex cases.
  • Develop and implement legal strategies tailored to each client's situation.
  • Prepare and file immigration petitions, applications, and motions.
  • Appear as lead counsel at court and agency proceedings with increasing independence.
  • Draft legal arguments, affidavits, motions, and responses to RFEs and NOIDs.
  • Conduct legal research to support case strategy and litigation decisions.
  • Stay current on changes in immigration law and relevant case law.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex or high-stakes matters.
  • Mentor and guide paralegals and legal assistants on case preparation (required for Associate Attorney II).

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, in good standing.
  • Interest or experience in immigration law, including USCIS and/or EOIR proceedings.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a legal team.
  • Spanish fluency preferred, but not required.
  • Prior experience mentoring support staff is a plus (required for Associate Attorney II).

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, in good standing.

Skills

  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a legal team.
  • Spanish fluency preferred, but not required.
