Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Federal Energy Regulatory Associate to join its Washington, D.C. office. The successful candidate will work within the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) practice, representing a diverse range of energy companies.

Duties

  • Assist clients with regulatory compliance and rate-related filings.
  • Litigate before FERC on behalf of clients.
  • Counsel clients on energy regulatory aspects of transactions.
  • Engage in the financing, development, acquisition, and disposition of energy/utility assets.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with Federal electric regulation.
  • Experience in two or more areas: market-based rates, cost of service ratemaking, transmission issues, FPA Section 203 filings, compliance, and organized energy markets.
  • Excellent academic credentials and writing skills.
  • Proven initiative and independent working skills in a group setting.
  • Willingness to work with innovative technology platforms.
  • DC bar membership or eligibility to waive into the DC bar.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Bar membership in Washington, D.C.

Skills

  • Experience practicing before FERC.
  • Strong grasp of FERC's e-filing and e-Tariff systems.
  • Experience with regulatory aspects of FERC-jurisdictional transactions.
