Job Overview
A law firm seeks a Mandarin-Speaking Patent Attorney to join its Seattle, Washington office. This role offers the opportunity to work in a vibrant city while contributing to a respected intellectual property practice.

Duties

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications in computer-related technology fields.
  • File and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO and foreign offices.
  • Oversee patent application processes in jurisdictions including China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
  • Direct foreign associates in English and Chinese on patent applications.
  • Conduct invention disclosure meetings in Chinese and English.
  • Review and evaluate complex invention disclosures and technical documents.
  • Translate patent applications between Chinese and English.
  • Perform prior art searches for patentability and validity.
  • Advise and represent clients in private matters and before government agencies.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
  • Licensed to practice law.
  • 3 years of experience as an IP attorney.
  • Membership in a state bar association.
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice before the USPTO.
  • Fluent in spoken and written Mandarin Chinese.
  • Knowledge of complex computer and electrical technologies.

Education

  • Juris Doctor degree.
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law.
  • Licensed to practice before the USPTO.

Skills

  • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese.
  • Proficiency in patent application processes.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
