Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Patent Agent to join their Intellectual Property Sub-practice group in Dallas, Texas. The role involves assisting patent attorneys with patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation, drafting patent applications, and advising on technology issues.

Duties

  • Prepare responses to office actions and other USPTO communications.
  • Study invention disclosures and prepare patent specifications.
  • Perform prior art searches.
  • Assist with litigation and transactional projects.
  • Communicate with clients and foreign counsel.

Requirements

  • Admitted to the USPTO with 2+ years of patent preparation and prosecution experience preferred.
  • Entry-level candidates with an interest in patent law and eligibility for USPTO admission considered.
  • Top academic credentials and strong analytical ability.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate in a global team environment.

Education

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related science required.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Certifications

  • USPTO admission required.
