Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly skilled Associate Attorney in Phoenix, AZ, with at least five years of substantive commercial litigation experience. The ideal candidate is a strong writer, an analytical thinker, and a confident advocate, comfortable managing cases from inception through trial or resolution.

Duties

  • Handle all aspects of commercial litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motions, depositions, court appearances, and trial preparation.
  • Draft and argue motions, briefs, and other substantive filings.
  • Develop litigation strategy in collaboration with partners and clients.
  • Manage case files and client communications efficiently and proactively.
  • Supervise junior associates and paralegals as needed.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in Arizona.
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial litigation experience, preferably in a law firm setting.
  • Strong litigation skills, including drafting, discovery, and courtroom experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred experience

  • Experience with business torts, breach of contract, shareholder disputes, and/or financial services litigation.
  • Prior federal and/or state court clerkship (a plus but not required).
  • Familiarity with alternative dispute resolution (ADR) procedures.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in Arizona.

Skills

  • Strong writing and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage cases from inception through trial or resolution.
  • Proficiency in developing litigation strategies.
