A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to lead the Disengagements Department in Los Angeles, CA. The role involves overseeing case disengagements, ensuring compliance, and maintaining professional client communication. Duties

  • Oversee disengagement processes, including case drops, referrals, and transfers.
  • Evaluate case files for disengagement, referral, or sub-out appropriateness.
  • Draft and review disengagement letters and related agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical rules and jurisdiction-specific requirements.
  • Coordinate with legal teams to prepare accurate files for disengagement.
  • Communicate with clients regarding disengagement decisions.
  • Conduct legal analysis to identify risks in case transitions.
  • Maintain organized records of all disengaged or transferred cases.
  • Provide guidance and training on disengagement procedures.
  • Manage workflow to ensure timely processing and avoid liability issues.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active California law license.
  • 1+ years of experience in personal injury law or related field.
  • Familiarity with disengagement and out-of-state case transition procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Experience handling sensitive conversations professionally.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with legal and operational teams.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

  • Active license to practice law in California.
