Job Overview

A law firm seeks a mid-level associate to join its Litigation Practice Group in Portland, OR. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of recent litigation experience and a strong willingness to learn probate and trust litigation. Experience with probate or trust disputes in Oregon courts is advantageous, along with administrative or drafting experience involving trusts and estate plans. Candidates must be licensed to practice in Oregon and possess strong writing skills and excellent academic credentials.

Duties

  • Provide legal research and analysis in pleadings, memoranda, and other written documents.
  • Draft pleadings and other case documents.
  • Attend hearings.
  • Manage matters from commencement to final resolution.
  • Professionally communicate with clients and supervising attorneys.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate with excellent academic credentials.
  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing in Oregon.
  • Familiarity with federal and state court procedural rules and practices.
  • Ability to prepare basic litigation documents.
  • Case management experience.
  • Clear and effective drafting skills.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Ability to learn new substantive legal topics as needed.
  • Ability to provide effective and reliable legal services to clients and supervising attorneys.
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organization and matter management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others as part of a team.
