Job Overview

A law firm seeks an associate with two to four years of experience to join its Litigation and White-Collar practice in Wheeling, WV. This role involves working on a variety of matters, including criminal and civil litigation, internal and congressional investigations, regulatory enforcement, and corporate compliance. Candidates should have prior law firm experience and a demonstrated interest in these areas.

Duties

  • Assist with preparation for witness interviews, client depositions, and witness testimony.
  • Respond to document requests, discovery requests, and manage document collection and review projects.
  • Consider strategic case issues and prepare analysis, summaries, or other written materials.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis.
  • Draft and respond to discovery and dispositive motions, jury instructions, and other motions.
  • Assist with corporate compliance projects and due diligence.
  • Interact regularly with clients, co-counsel, and opposing counsel.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years' experience in Litigation and White Collar, including internal investigations and enforcement.
  • Outstanding research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work across lanes and manage multiple assignments.
  • Reliable, responsive, and proactive work style.
  • Flexible team player, able to work under direction and independently.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort with sophisticated clients.
  • Understanding of the business of law.
  • Membership in the State Bar of the office location or ability to become admitted promptly.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.

Certifications

  • State Bar membership.
