Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney specializing in Environmental and Water Law in Sacramento, CA. The practice focuses on advisory, transactional, and litigation services for public agencies, agricultural interests, and tribal rights.

Duties

  • Advise and represent clients in environmental and water law matters.
  • Prepare discovery and pleadings for litigation or adversarial proceedings.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis.
  • Draft client memorandums and law and motion documents.
  • Manage written discovery with limited supervision.
  • Interface with clients to convey legal and strategic issues.
  • Develop plans and courses of action for legal matters.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of experience in environmental and/or water law.
  • Experience with public sector clients preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Brown Act, Public Records Act, and Conflicts of Interest.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the State Bar of California.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and follow-through skills.
  • Strong judgment and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Ability to work as a self-starter and hard worker.
