Associate Attorney - Insurance Coverage

Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney with at least 3 years of insurance coverage experience to join their New York, NY office. The candidate will analyze complex insurance policies and handle coverage-related disputes, contributing to high-stakes litigation cases nationwide.

Duties

• Analyze insurance coverage issues involving professional lines claims, including D&O/management liability and E&O matters.
• Draft coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, and other coverage-related communications.
• Evaluate claims, policies, and underlying litigation materials to assess coverage obligations and potential exposure.
• Assist with coverage litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, and related litigation materials.
• Advise insurance company clients on coverage matters and collaborate with claims professionals, adjusters, and other stakeholders.
• Communicate with clients and opposing counsel and participate in court hearings and oral arguments.
• Handle cyber coverage matters, as applicable.

Requirements

• Active license to practice law in New York and in good standing.
• At least 3 years of experience handling insurance coverage matters under D&O, E&O, or EPL liability policies.
• Cyber coverage experience is a plus, but not mandatory.
• Strong ability to work collaboratively with partners, associates, paralegals, and law clerks.
• Exceptional legal writing, research, organizational, and advocacy skills.
• Experience in a billable-hour environment preferred.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in New York.
