Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Houston, TX, with at least three years of litigation experience. The firm specializes in wage and hour law, focusing on class and collective actions and arbitrations. The ideal candidate will be driven and eager to enhance their professional and financial trajectory.

Duties

  • Represent clients in depositions, hearings, mediations, and other legal proceedings.
  • Prepare for and participate in trials and arbitration hearings with the assigned Partner.
  • Draft written discovery, deficiency notices, and subpoenas; assist in responding to discovery served on clients.
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of legal pleadings, motions, correspondence, and other required documents.
  • Engage in settlement negotiations, participate in mediation, and attend settlement conferences.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in good standing.
  • 3 years of litigation experience on either side of the docket.
  • Significant experience handling depositions and in-court advocacy at hearings.
  • Some experience with evidentiary and legal arguments, as well as direct- and cross-examination of witnesses at trial.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in legal research tools and litigation software.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in good standing.
