A law firm seeks a talented and motivated Associate Attorney to join their State and Local Tax (SALT) practice in Pittsburgh, PA. This role is ideal for an attorney with 3-5 years of experience handling Pennsylvania SALT matters, including sales and use tax, who is looking to deepen their technical expertise while working closely with experienced partners and a collaborative team.

Duties

  • Take ownership of assigned matters from start to finish, developing strategies for successful outcomes.
  • Conduct thorough legal research to support case strategies and provide well-informed advice.
  • Prepare, review, and finalize legal documents with precision and attention to detail.
  • Maintain regular, proactive communication with clients about case progress and next steps.
  • Represent clients effectively in negotiations and work toward favorable resolutions.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and colleagues across practice areas to deliver comprehensive legal solutions.
  • Uphold the highest standards of professional conduct, including adherence to state bar requirements and firm policies.
  • Assist in setting retainers, managing payment schedules, and ensuring timely collection of receivables.
  • Stay current with legal developments and complete all required Continuing Legal Education (CLE).

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • 3-5 years of experience practicing Pennsylvania state and local tax law.
  • Demonstrated experience with sales and use tax matters in Pennsylvania.
  • Admission to practice law in Pennsylvania (or eligibility to waive in).
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters efficiently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and a client-focused approach.
  • Prior experience in a law firm or comparable professional services environment preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications
