Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly experienced attorney in East Hanover, NJ, with over 10 years of litigation experience to manage a diverse New York bodily injury and personal injury defense caseload from inception through resolution.

Duties

  • Manage New York bodily injury and personal injury defense matters through all phases of litigation.
  • First chair jury trials as needed.
  • Conduct case investigations and liability assessments.
  • Prepare and respond to written discovery.
  • Take and defend depositions, including parties, witnesses, and experts.
  • Draft, argue, and respond to substantive motions.
  • Handle court appearances, conferences, mediations, and arbitrations.
  • Provide strategic analysis and regular reporting to insurance carriers, self-insured entities, and third-party administrators.
  • Negotiate settlements and oversee matters through trial preparation and resolution.
  • Maintain direct client relationships and serve as a trusted advisor throughout the litigation process.

Requirements

  • Admission to the New York Bar required.
  • Minimum 10 years of insurance defense litigation experience.
  • Demonstrated experience handling New York automobile and premises liability matters.
  • Significant first chair jury trials of personal injury cases (defense preferable).
  • Strong deposition, motion practice, negotiation, and courtroom skills.
  • Ability to independently manage a full caseload with minimal supervision.
  • New Jersey admission preferred but not required.
  • Portable business is not required but will be considered.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Admission to the New York Bar.
