A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join its Silica Defense practice in California. This position offers the flexibility of being fully remote or based in Los Angeles or San Francisco. The role involves handling sophisticated litigation for national clients, providing meaningful responsibility and mentorship.

Duties

  • Manage an assigned caseload with partner oversight.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and written discovery.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare substantive legal analysis.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Participate in mediations and arbitrations.
  • Communicate directly with clients and insurance carriers.
  • Collaborate with a team of experienced litigators on complex matters.

Requirements

  • Active California bar license.
  • At least 1 year of defense litigation experience.
  • Deposition experience required.
  • Experience with toxic tort, silica, asbestos, or product liability defense preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
  • A proactive mindset and ownership of assignments.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Experience with mediations or arbitrations is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Active California bar license.
