Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Local Government Law Attorney in Christiansburg, Virginia. This role offers the opportunity to practice local government law while enjoying the benefits of private practice. Duties

• Advise local governments on legal matters including governance, contracts, land use, and public meetings.
• Draft and review ordinances, resolutions, and legal opinions.
• Represent localities in administrative and legal proceedings.
• Stay current on legal developments affecting municipal clients.
• Collaborate with attorneys and staff across offices to deliver integrated legal services.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active member of the Virginia State Bar.
• Five or more years of experience practicing Local Government Law in Virginia.
• Strong understanding of municipal operations, FOIA, zoning, procurement, governance, and public meetings.
• Existing relationships or experience with localities in Hampton Roads is a plus.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active member of the Virginia State Bar.
