Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Family Law Associate Attorney for its Litigation Department in Providence, Rhode Island. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and administrative skills, be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking efficiently. They must be prepared to handle cases from inception through trial, including drafting discovery pleadings and motions, and taking and defending depositions. A strong academic record, proven writing skills, and courtroom advocacy talent are essential. Candidates must be licensed to practice in Rhode Island and in good standing.

Duties

  • Oversee and manage legal issues among family members.
  • Supervise mediation sessions and provide effective legal advice.
  • Organize and record official documents for case filings.
  • Coordinate with staff to prepare trial briefs.
  • Maintain a schedule of hearings, court appearances, and conferences.
  • Respond to urgent client needs.
  • Oversee family estates and wills.
  • Attend trials and court proceedings.
  • Regularly update clients on case progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and J.D. degree.
  • 3-5+ years of experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of laws, rules, and court procedures.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters confidentially.
  • Licensed to practice in Rhode Island and in good standing.
  • Licensed in Massachusetts is a plus.
  • High degree of initiative, mature judgment, and discretion.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
