"Attorney Dropped My Case After Financial Disclosure" - Anonymous

- Reviewed on Jul 28, 2025

Advice to law firm management: Stop pretending you care about helping people—your actions show you only care about dollar signs, not doing what*s right

Cons: I hired the firm to assist with an IRS tax matter. After signing the contract and submitting all requested documents, I was contacted by the attorney a few days later. He directed me to complete an online financial questionnaire, stating it was part of the IRS process. The form required me to disclose personal financial details, including retirement accounts, savings, and investments.

However, once he reviewed my responses and saw that I had no significant assets, he abruptly withdrew from my case. Despite our signed agreement, he threatened legal action if I spoke out and charged me a $200 fee before ending the engagement.

It became clear that the financial questionnaire was not a true IRS requirement, but rather a tool the attorney used to assess whether I had assets that made my case profitable. His actions appeared to serve his own interests—not mine.
