In the early 1990s when the Texas Legislature revamped the Workers' Compensation Act, Dean G. Pappas and Tommy Smith helped build a small Workers' Compensation docket into one of the largest in the state. The two litigated the first death case reported under the New Workers' Compensation Act.
On February 1, 2003, Mr. Pappas and Mr. Smith started their own law firm and continue to represent numerous insurance companies and self-insured entities before the Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers' Compensation, and in Courts throughout the state.
