The firm has a long history and reputation of providing excellent representation to marginalized communities, such as victims of police misconduct and incarcerated people. (NOTE: the firm also has extensive experience in business litigation, employment litigation, medical malpractice, personal injury, and general civil litigation). As an associate, my primary responsibilities included client communications, communications with opposing counsel, taking and defending depositions, propounding and responding to written discovery, drafting and researching motions, and all other steps leading to and through trial. This was an extraordinary experience for my professional development as a 3-5-year associate. Significantly, McMurray Henriks, LLP also encouraged me to participate in community organizations and to foster ties with the LA and CA legal community at large. Yana and Randy were amazing mentors, and I cannot express my gratitude for their guidance and support. As a female attorney, I am extra inspired by Yana because she is an incredibly independent, fierce, and brilliant attorney. The legal support staff was also very knowledgeable and helpful. I greatly appreciate the diversity, equity, and inclusion principles the firm values and promotes. Salary and bonus structures and benefits are excellent.ConsMcMurray Henriks, LLP encourages associate attorneys to exercise their independent judgment. I do not think this is a con because it is a necessary step for career and professional development. Associate attorneys should be ready to step up to the challenge, it will very much be worth it in the end.

It was a fantastic learning experience, learning alongside some of the best litigators and trial attorneys in the city, doing extremely important work. I've read some of the other reviews and just disagree. I was NEVER paid late, never forced to clock in and out, etc. I still run into lawyers who have worked with Randy and Yana- even those who have opposed them- and they are always hailed for being excellent attorneys and advocates for their clients.ConsCivil rights is important work and can be challenging, especially when working with challenging facts.Advice to ManagementKeep up the fight.
