BCG Attorney Search speaks with attorneys about law firms every day. Here is what attorneys are saying:

-hand experience at a law firm, but it's not a career.

Harris Wiltshire & Grannis is a law firm based in Washington DC, with offices in multiple locations. It is known for its family-oriented culture, competitive salaries, and comfortable work environment. However, there are some drawbacks to the firm; the commute is difficult if you live outside of DC, the work can be tedious, and the pay is below what you could make elsewhere. Additionally, there is no process in place for performance reviews, no real opportunities for leadership or advancement, and no formal HR to mitigate issues.

Attorneys at the firm have mixed reviews. Most are great to work with, but there are some people who are difficult for the sake of being difficult and can make the experience difficult for legal assistants. Additionally, as the firm has grown and transitioned to more remote work, the culture has not been maintained with new hires. As a result, the experience for an LA is largely determined by the attorneys they work for.

In conclusion, Harris Wiltshire & Grannis is a well-respected firm with a family-oriented culture and competitive salaries. However, the work can be tedious and the pay is below what you could make elsewhere. Additionally, there are some difficult people at the firm, and the culture has not been maintained with new hires. It is likely a good opportunity for someone looking to get first-hand experience at a law firm, but it is not a career.
