BCG Attorney Search speaks with attorneys about law firms every day. Here is what attorneys are saying:

Robins Kaplan is a law firm that has earned a good reputation from attorneys and others who have worked there. The reviews that they have received are generally positive, with people commenting on the great opportunities to excel in a well-supported and fast-paced atmosphere. People have also commented on the decent health benefits that are offered for staff at the firm, as well as the excellent benefits and health insurance packages that are available.

However, there have been some complaints about long hours and the firm becoming more reactive than proactive as time has gone on. There is also some concern about the head of HR leaving the firm and a C Suite employee taking on a dual role without any HR experience. Additionally, some have reported being given sub par promotions and being told they couldn't get a cost of living raise during their evaluations.

Overall, Robins Kaplan appears to be a firm that offers great opportunities for attorneys to excel in their field. They provide decent health benefits and excellent benefits and health insurance packages. The firm has become more reactive than proactive as time has gone on, however, and some employees have reported being given sub par promotions and not being able to get a cost of living raise.

Advice to law firm management: Revamp the E-Discovery department and replace leadership without actual legal background.

Pros: None that come to mind.

Cons: Document Review Attorneys otherwise known as Project Attorneys at Robins Kaplan are sent home without warning when a case "abruptly" ends (seriously how do you not know and make plans for your workers in anticipation of case settlement). Below market pay and short lunch breaks (e.g., 30 min without ability to make up the difference).

Partners to Avoid and Why: Mary Marvin because they were not knowledgeable regarding case systems and involved.
