Leonard, O'Brien, Spencer, Gale & Sayre, Ltd.

Leonard, O'Brien, Spencer, Gale and Sayre, Ltd. was established in 1968, when former Minnesota State Senator Joseph T. O'Neill, along with his brother Pat and his lifelong friend Jack Burke, decided to start a firm that would combine high quality and diligent pursuit of clients' legal needs with an emphasis on prompt and personal service. Attracted by this vision, three of the firm's current named partners ? Brian Leonard, Michael O'Brien and Ed Gale ? began working for the firm as law clerks in the 1970s. Joining them in the firm's current name are Eldon Spencer, the firm's first lateral hire who had previously been running a state agency during Governor Quie's administration, and Grover Sayre, the firm's managing partner.

While continuing the firm's tradition of strong responsiveness to client needs, LOSGS has developed a national reputation in a number of areas including commercial loan and transaction negotiation and documentation; creditor remedies in bankruptcy, reorganization, and workouts; commercial and financial services litigation, tax abatement; complex real estate and construction law issues; trust and estate planning; multiemployer benefits fund issues, and a full variety of other civil practice specialties. Several LOSGS shareholders have served as adjunct professors or lecturers at local law schools and the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Business.
