Phelps Dunbar is a law firm with offices located throughout the Southern United States. Reviews from attorneys and others who have worked at the law firm suggest that it is a great place to work with a positive in-office culture that highly values work-life balance as long as work is performed with quality. Benefits such as generous PTO, good insurance, competitive pay for law firms in the region, and supportive team and upper management are highly praised. However, there are some drawbacks. Difficulties arise when trying to work in practice areas other than those assigned, and there are no work-from-home opportunities even though the work could be done remotely. The workplace culture is also noted as being demanding, with billable hours that exceed the official minimum. Additionally, management style varies and some managers lack experience, impacting the overall work environment. Furthermore, there is a high turnover rate with few opportunities for advancement and little to no accountability.
