BCG Attorney Search speaks with attorneys about law firms every day. Here is what attorneys are saying:

Dinsmore & Shohl is a law firm with offices in fifteen cities throughout the Midwest. The firm has a reputation for its competitive salary and great opportunities for its staff. Employees report that their managers and upper management are supportive and the staff are friendly and hardworking. The firm also offers 18 weeks of paid maternity leave which is a great benefit for new mothers.

Employees have also noted that the firm is transparent and flexible in its management style. They also appreciate the hybrid working environment which is now in place, as well as the close proximity to public transportation in their offices.

However, the firm also has some drawbacks. There is a 1900 billable hour requirement which can be tough for those with young children. Employees also report that they did not receive much assistance or support and there was a lot of pressure to advance. Additionally, "market raises" are not given to every associate and salary is completely discretionary and opaque. There is also a lack of training and diversity in the Indianapolis office, as well as an outdated legal software and systems. Furthermore, there is no bonus structure for hours and new mothers must be at the firm for a full year to qualify for any type of maternity leave.

Overall, Dinsmore & Shohl is a firm with a great reputation for its competitive salary and great opportunities for its staff. While the firm offers some great benefits, there are drawbacks such as the lack of diversity, support, and outdated software and systems. It is important for potential employees to consider these pros and cons before deciding to work at the firm.

Advice to law firm management: Tear it all down, and start over. Fundamentally flawed from the top down.

Pros: There are none.

Cons: They defend scum bag human beings like Joseph Eubank and do not deserve to benefit from anything. Scumbags.

Partners to Avoid and Why: All of them.

So if one does not know of an open position in the company they will be disregarded and they hire outside.
