BCG Attorney Search speaks with attorneys about law firms every day. Here is what attorneys are saying:

isn't much room for growth.

Colleran O'Hara & Mills is a law firm located in Long Island, New York, and is known for its supportive and flexible environment. Reviews from attorneys and other people who have worked at the firm have reported that the firm allows employees to reach their full potential, and is willing to make allowances for scheduling needs. The office is clean and there is an abundance of interesting and challenging work.

Although there are some negative reviews, the main complaint seems to be related to compensation and location. Salaries have been reduced by 25% and no communication from the firm on if they would be reinstated. Furthermore, the firm is located in Long Island, and although the salaries are generous compared to other mid-law and big law firms in the city, they are much lower than the average salary in the city. Finally, there isn't much room for growth as a law clerk at the firm.

Overall, Colleran O'Hara & Mills is a supportive and flexible law firm that allows employees to reach their full potential. The firm is known for its generous salaries in Long Island, although they are much lower than the average salary in NYC. Employees have reported that there is an abundance of interesting and challenging work, although there is not much room for growth as a law clerk.

Pros: 5.0 Current Employee, less than 1 yearAs a Law Clerk I gained a substantial amount of experience.Jul 21, 2014 - Law Clerk in Woodbury, NY ProsPerpetual amount of substantively interesting and challenging work.Opportunity to take on significant responsibility by accepting difficult assignments. As open-door as open-door gets. Collegiate atmosphere where everyone wants to help you learn.Excellent people to work with- from the attorneys to the secretaries. There is no other firm that could feel more like a family. As a first year law clerk (rising 2L), I got to work on a federal brief. Not many law firms provide such experiences.ConsThe only thing negative about the firm for me is its location in Long Island, which obviously isn't necessarily a con because many people would prefer this commute.Compensation, although very generous for a Long Island firm of its size, is low compared to the average mid law/ big law salary in NYC. Again, this isn't necessarily a con, because the firm is a small firm in Long Island. Finally, as a law clerk, there doesn't seem like there is an opportunity to be hired as an attorney because the firm just relocated and all the offices are occupied by attorneys. Again, this isn't necessarily a con.Advice to ManagementKeep doing exactly what you're doing. I look forward to work every day!
