Cons: As a former associate attorney who spent more than three years at White & Case LLP in New York, NY, I have a unique perspective on the company culture and work environment. My time at the firm was challenging, marked by poor allocation of work and responsibility, a toxic work culture among management and seniors, and a lack of support and development opportunities for associates.
At White & Case, associates are treated as cogs in a machine, with little to no oversight. The focus is solely on billable hours, with no regard for personal career development or growth. The exit opportunities compared to peer firms were relatively poor, and the firm did not have any meaningful system for associate development beyond PowerPoint presentations.
In light of these experiences, I would like to offer the following advice to the management at White & Case. I believe it is important to pay attention to the decline in firm morale and to consider why this is happening.
